Kim and Tara

Join a zoo supervisor as she shares with you animal tales and messages from some incredible animals. Their stories and words of wisdom will touch your heart and soul, and open your eyes to this unique world.

Kim will take you on a journey as she talks about various animals in the zoo and their experiences. You will discover what is on their minds, like how they view captivity, how they feel about their caretakers, and how they really feel about zoo visitors.

You will learn how it is not all about being behind “bars”. Get the inside scoop from these kindred spirits.

By attending this class you will:

  • learn what it is really like at a zoo from a full-time supervisor's perspective.
  • understand how the zoo animals are very similar to other animals in captivity, including animals in your care.
  • discover what makes a zoo animal happy and how that correlates to animals you care for.
  • learn how you can help animals in the wild and in captivity.
  • hear special messages and stories from the zoo animals.

About Kim Shotola

The Lightfoot Way, LLC's mission is to enhance the well being of families, animals, professionals and individuals by sharing knowledge and providing support for the body, mind and spirit.

Today, Kim and her family enjoy sharing their farm with many animals including three adopted dogs, a cat that was adopted as an orphan, a guniea pig, a chinchilla, white doves, and some fish. The farm is also home to two dwarf Zebu cattle and their occasional calves, a breed from India, and two Andalusian horses. Kim has lovingly cared for her 19 year old mare, Tara, pictured above, since she was a yearling.

In addition to having animals on her farm, Kim has worked with animals at the Houston Zoo since 1991. During her tenure at the zoo, she has helped manage the care of over 1,000 domestic, livestock, wildlife, and exotic animals in the Children's Zoo.

Kim studied animal communication with professional animal communicators Diane Samsel, Kathleen Berard, and Leta Worthington, as well as with Philip Toledo, a Tibetan shaman. She is listed in Penelope Smith’s Animal Communicator Directory.

Kim attended the certified intuitive angel guide basic and advanced course taught by Kathleen Elmore, CSC, who studied with Doreen Virtue.  In furthering her work with angels and ascended masters, she has studied Shamballa with Nedda Wittels and sound current healing with Sasha Gabriel White.

Kim derives personal inspiration in her work from her connection with St. Francis. She says, “I feel blessed to have St. Francis as my spirit guide. He came to me in a meditation I was doing about animal communication. He helps me communicate with the animals. Of course, he’s the patron saint of animals and his presence in my work is very special to me.”

Kim believes animals are windows to our souls and doorways to our spiritual destinies. If you will let them into your life and allow them to teach you, you will be better for it.
