Volunteering at the Washington State Penitentiary carries many responsibilities and rewards.
I get to work with many men who will never see outside the walls of the prison again in this life time. Many have been there for 10 years or more and before this program started, they had not touched a dog for that long.
We take dogs from our human society and put them in the prison to live with a selected few who want to better themselves and to help dogs find better homes.
It is an amazing event to watch how some of these men transform into responsible, caring individuals - to listen to them talk about their dogs with love and trust. The inmates learn how to communicate with their companions with telepathy and the stories I hear are very heart warming and validating.
Many times I just stand back and watch the action between these men and the dogs and know all is well in both their lives. The hardest part is letting the dogs go to their new homes. Ever seen a hardened criminal cry? Once that happens, you know he is a changed man and the dog has done his job.
In this program you will:
- learn how a dog in prison program works.
- discover why these types of programs are needed.
- explore how the dogs and the inmates both benefit.
- hear how animal communication is changing the lives of inmates.
- understand just how powerful love and trust can be to both inmates and dogs.
- see the world from behind prison walls.
Meet Shirley Scott
Animal Communicator - Clairvoyant - Medium
Walla Walla, WA USA
Shirley helps with behavior issues, medical problems, grief counseling and talking to our loved ones who have crossed. She considers that animal communication comes with a responsibility to the animals not to put human emotions or feelings on them but to communicate to their human companions what they are feeling and why.
Shirley also does long distance energy work.
Her service is to help people empower themselves while they learn from the animal kingdom.
About Shirley Scott
"The year was 2000 and I was living what I called a normal life. I was just starting my spiritual path. I had read all about spiritual ways but I was not living it yet, so the Universe decided to help me along.
"That was the year of my near-death, out-of-body experience. It was this experience that gave me the life I have today. I recovered from it and realized I was clairvoyant.
"I started reading people, and then one of my friends told me that if I could read people, she was sure I could read animals. I went to a dog show with her and to my surprise I could hear the dogs and they could hear me. It was amazing. I knew the Universe had guided me to this point.
"Since that time, I have been studying and learning and letting the animals guide me with their wisdom. They have told me how they think, communicate, and feel about their human companions and their world, as well as ours. They have told me that even though they may think and view the world differently than we do, we are all in this together. They have many wise lessons to teach us about love, death, survival, and just being in the present moment.
"I view each day and every reading as an honor and it brings joy to me. I love all my clients whether they are four-legged, winged, crawl on their stomachs or have two legs. My life is enriched because of them."
